La Discotheque are labelled as 'the UK's most fabulous disco club brand', and on Saturday the 25th of November, it was time to celebrate their much anticipated 1st birthday party, held at the Albert Hall. They have provided some great parties over the past year, with previous line ups including a variety of disco legends and pioneers of the nu-disco era. Todd Terje, Dimitri from Paris, Candi Staton, Nicky Siano, Crazy P and many more have been involved in the La Discotheque project and it has resulted in them receiving awards for being one of the best clubbing nights in the UK. It was no surprise then, when they announced a scintillating line up for their birthday, with disco royalty - Evelyn Champagne King being joined by some of the finest DJs around at the moment, to produce the highest quality disco sets.  Having arrived at around 10:30pm, defected regular DJ Spen was already in full swing (10pm-11:40pm). 'TESSELATE WITH CHAOS IN THE CBD, MAX GRAEF, AND SEB WILDBLOOD' (4/11/17)

On Saturday the 4th of November, Tessellate were in control of proceedings for the second event of their winter series at Corsica Studios. They delivered a superb line up, with their long-time 'Rhythm Section' friends - Chaos in the CBD headlining the night in room 1, with outrageously good support from the likes of the Berlin based techno wizard - Max Graef and Corsica favourite - Seb Wildblood. Kiara Scuro was also on the bill, warming up the crowd with some funky tunes before Seb Wildblood cued up his first record. As we always like to see, the DJs were all playing on vinyl - giving them a chance to reveal their incredible collections to the crowd. Seb Wildblood began the main proceedings in room 1, taking over from Kiara Scuro at around 1am. Having bumped into him just before he jumped behind the decks, he explained that he'd just got back from a short tour in India and was very excited to be playing, as this event was going to be one of his last London shows f...

'FEVER 105's INTIMATE SPACES #1 WITH RED GREG & MAFALDA' (28/10/17)

After two very successful summer events at Oval Space, Fever 105 returned with a new series of 'intimate spaces' for a back to basics, Halloween - themed disco night at the cool, underground 70s influenced venue - the 'Mule Bar' in Shoreditch. This event was much smaller than the normal Fever 105 parties and the venue hosted around 300 disco lovers, whom came dressed for the occasion in a variety of different spooky outfits. The intimate space consisted of a groovy yellow patterned dance floor, surrounded by various retro sofas. It was the perfect environment for the original disco scene trying to be created. Two seriously good selectors - DJ Red Greg & Mafalda were hired to spin rare groove, soul, funk and disco all night long behind the rotary mixer, which resulted in strictly good vibes only. First to be in control of the vibes was London-based, Portuguese DJ - Mafalda, whom co-runs Melodies International alongside Floating Points, specialising in releasing ...

'MINISTRY OF SOUNDS 26th BIRTHDAY (WITH DJ HARVEY ALL NIGHT LONG' (30/9/17)

Ministry of Sound has been constantly hosting amazing parties for over two decades now, and on the 30 th of September, it was time to celebrate 26 years of grooving all night at one of the best clubs in the UK. When a club of this magnitude hosts a birthday party, you know you’re in for a special night; especially when the disco don that is DJ Harvey is at the helm; all night long. Following his so called legendary nights at Pikes and various other clubs in Ibiza throughout August and September; he was straight back to business, behind the decks for his 3 rd residency this year at Ministry. Having visited ‘Phonica Records’ for his album launch party the night before, Harvey told me he was excited to return to Ministry, and that it was going to be a great night. He was once again situated in ‘The Box’, a magical room filled with various different coloured lights shining in all directions, reflecting off disco balls and identifying groovy silhouettes through the smoke. Playing in room...

'HISTORY OF DISCO FESTIVAL @ OVAL SPACE' (12/8/17)

Fever 105’s ‘Summer of Love Disco Festival’ back in June was a special night for everyone that attended, as the disco spirit funked each individual’s soul; helping them to groove the night away. Due to the large success, huge anticipation and excitement loomed as they announced their next summer event – ‘The History of Disco Festival’. If the name and description of the event ‘a super groovy showdown of everything disco’ didn’t excite one enough, the fact that Fever 105 announced the headliner on the night to be hacienda disco legend – Greg Wilson sent interest through the roof, as they completely sold out Oval Space once again. Having arrived at around 11pm, the disco was already in full swing with the Credit to the Edit DJs (Derek Kaye, Peza and Henry Greenwood) providing funkadelic vibes with some classic disco such as Loleatta Holloway’s ‘Love Sensation’, whilst also playing some insanely good re-edits of other disco classics such as ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’ (Indeep) a...

On Saturday the 17th of June, the phenomenal venue, that is Oval Space, welcomed an enormous party for funk and disco lovers from all over to attend. Fever 105 were in control and produced a superb line up including expert disco spinner – Kon, the Fever 105 live band, which was reminiscent of the old school motown groups, and the Menendez Brothers who have come a long way since starting DJing where they grew up in Columbia; and kept the energy high with their impressive record collection as the party came to a close. The venue was excellently transformed into a 70s style-disco. The colourful environment contained various gleaming disco balls surrounding a humongous one in the middle which many were mesmerised by. The dance floor felt like it had been filled almost to perfection, as there were many disco lovers inside but also plenty of room to dance and have a good time. The outside smoking terrace, which famously looks over the iconic Bethnal Green gas holders, had al...
