DISCOVERIES IN ISOLATION

Hello! I've been busy writing for other platforms over the last few months, but all this self-isolation business has got me back on the good old FDB blog. I was contemplating what I should write about in my returning post... Another blog about how great DJ Harvey is? Something about live streams? The future of dance music? Nah... Then it hit me that during quarantine I've spent most of my days scrolling endlessly through YouTube, searching long and hard for hidden gems. So, why not share some of my musical discoveries in isolation? After all, music is for sharing...  1. 'MOS 28th BIRTHDAY PART 2 w/ DJ HARVEY'

O n October 5 th , after his traditional summer hiatus playing in various exotic locations, the Balearic prince DJ Harvey made his triumphant return to London alongside a dazzling line-up to celebrate 28 years of pioneering dance music with Ministry of Sound. On a cold rainy night in South London, a cosmic disco exploration was happening inside the club. The Menendez Brothers' vintage club brand 'Feelings' hosted room 103. Innovative East-London duo  Payfone and sci-fi obsessed Space Dimension Controller sparked the atmosphere in the central hub of the club with sonic selections, welcoming dance cadets with a formidable mix of electro-funk and astral disco. Next door, in the notorious main room (where the magic happens), Harvey was transcending through the realms of dance music at his own steady pace. 'ALFRESCO FESTIVAL 2019'

Over the past 4 years Alfresco has built a reputation as an elite UK festival which carries an unprecedented family atmosphere. The festival has continued to grow in stature and production, and 2019 saw a massive leap forward. At the end of May, the Alfresco crew returned to the stunning backfields of the Hop Farm and yet again transformed the environment into a world of magical dance music escapism. 8 stages and tents spread across the field and into the woods welcomed unrivalled daytime entertainment and hosted some of the world's best DJs. You could take your kids to the Panic Family Circus or become a lyrical genius at Hip Hop karaoke in the day, and rave to the likes of Erol Alkan, Justin Robertson, and Prins Thomas throughout the night. Tail & Twist are a bunch of UK-based passionate party throwers, who love disco & house music. Since they started up in late 2016, they have consistently delivered sensational parties which provide a platform for dancers to move and groove to records mixed by both seasoned and up-and-coming selectors. As well as being a guaranteed night to remember full of disco, love, and dancing; their events represent something more than just the drive to put on a great party. Introducing Remotion Remotion is a brand new London-based club night which focuses on bringing you both quantity and quality on the dancefloor. In a complex world, Remotion are stripping it back to a simple but effective concept – two high quality artists, two extended sets.
