'INTRODUCING REMOTION'
Introducing
Remotion
Remotion is a brand new London-based club night which focuses on bringing you both quantity and quality on the
dancefloor. In a complex world, Remotion
are stripping it back to a simple but effective concept – two high quality
artists, two extended sets. This allows the selected DJs to express themselves,
create their own atmosphere, and spread their own influence, which benefits everyone
in attendance.
With their opening night all set for Saturday the 29th of June, in Shoreditch’s central hub
for music and arts – Café 1001; Remotion
resident DJK will be joined by two of
Glasgow’s finest party starters – Dixon
Avenue Basement Jams. If that wasn’t enough, DABJ are bringing along acid
loving veterans Posthuman to mark the launch as a very
special occasion. Fresh young talent will also be on display with Madz heating things up for these seasoned selectors.
Tickets currently stand at a tenner! This is a bargain considering the amount of talent on offer. Get your ticket via Resident Advisor, and get familiar with the guys who will be lighting up your night on the 29th of June via the artist profiles below...
Artist
Profiles
DJK: Kelvin
Hill aka DJK has spun records since
'95 in various places from London to Sydney, and everywhere in between. Along
the way, he has built up an impressive wax collection which spans all the way
through early disco to Chicago house, Detroit techno, and all modern forms of
the same. Now, his journey has reached a new chapter. He has linked up with the
Remotion crew and will be adding his
own flavour to spice things up in the first extended set of the night.
DABJ: After
a decade of digging and gaining reputable respect DJing as residents at Monox; the
former Glaswegian sacred place for house, techno, and electro worship, Dan
Lurinsky and Kenny Grieve kick-started their very own label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams in 2012. This
provided a platform for a host of young Glasgow-based talent to excel. Big Miz,
Denis Sulta, Jackmaster, and Jasper James have all released immense records on
the label and become part of the ever-expanding DABJ family; which is now a
prominent, esteemed distributor of dance music worldwide. Dan & Kenny’s
high reputation as label bosses spills over into their ability on the decks. The
label was named after their notorious after parties held on Dixon Avenue, and they will bring this legendary party spirit to Café 1001, where they
will take charge of the second extended set of the night. Expect everything
from rugged, raw, freaky selections to stone-cold heavy hitters.
Posthuman: Also on the bill are cousins and
pioneers of the UK acid house revival Rich Bevan and Josh Doherty, who combine
to form acid duo – Posthuman. They are the
residents and bosses of long-running club night & vinyl-only label ‘I Love
Acid’ and have run hundreds of parties over the last decade, stretching across
the UK and around Europe. They will be joining the others to add their own
element of fun to the night with their mixed bag of hardware jams spliced with
acid house, techno & electronica.
