'HARVEY'S SENSATIONAL DISCOTHEQUE'

Image
DJ Harvey has done it all. The pioneer of the re-edit starred at his own, inclusive underground club nights ‘Moist’ and was one of the first resident DJs at ‘Ministry of Sound’ (MOS) in the 90s; alongside icons such as Larry Levan and Tony Humphries. He spent a decade in NYC, but now he’s back on the international scene and has played everywhere over the last few years. His parties at ‘Pikes Ibiza’, have generated a large amount of praise from Harvey disciples, who have left the legendary Freddie Mercury hotel suite, in absolute awe and admiration of the enchanting, special party environment. Harvey returned to London on the 19 th May, to host a discotheque at the new cultural hub for music – Printworks. Dance music's very own wonder woman – Peggy Gou, and fan favourite – Skream joined Harvey in the press halls (main room); as well as other special guests Hot Chip Megamix, Jaye Ward and Haai. There was also a stellar line up in the charge bay (room 2), which involved seasoned ...

'FLOATING POINTS ALL DAY LONG AT FABRIC WAS EVIDENCE THAT HE HAS BECOME A SUPERB SELECTOR, WHO POSSESSES AN IMPECCABLE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE ENERGY ON THE DANCE FLOOR'

Image
The Easter weekend is all about festivities and celebration. This year the people of London were spoilt for choice with where and how to party. The legendary Body & Soul disco pioneers – Danny Krivit, Francois K and Joe Claussell held a rare get-together at E1 London. Also, Fever 105 returned to Oval Space for another groovy disco extravaganza; showcasing the legendary talent of Norman Jay, Jazzie B and more. However, Fabric was the pick of a fantastic bunch, as it was announced that Floating Points would be playing a rare extended set, all day long in room 1. Although attending a Body & Soul session has been on my wish list for some time, and Fever 105 have consistently delivered with their events, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to see Floating Points doing his thing for 8 hours in the booth at Fabric. As expected, there was a serious party going on in room 1. The place was completely packed out 3 hours into Floating Points set. Moments after entering the main...

Although Reading is the UK’s largest town and has a lot to offer; it has never been renowned for having much of an underground dance music scene. In fact, there isn’t really any club in Reading which will provide a regular dosage of the best house and techno tunes for the many who crave it. Luckily, the town contains a lot of passionate students, whom possess an obsession with good music, and this has led to them organising their own events to satisfy their needs, and meet the high demand for it. This is exactly how Incognito began. In a short space of time, the Incognito team have rebelled against the quiet underground...

'AEROSOUL'S LATEST EVENT PROVED THAT THEY ARE AN EXCITING PROJECT; BRINGING A BREATH OF FRESH AIR TO THE DISCO MOVEMENT'

Image
Aaron L by Harry Franklin Disco is really flourishing at the moment. The sound and movement that was pushed underground due to the over commercialisation of what is ‘disco music’, has always been recognised as something very special by music lovers and professionals. Since disco was somewhat pronounced 'dead' around 40 years ago; it has evolved into mainstream music, where it is found in stripped down versions. It's influence is apparent in a large amount of new music, across a variety of genres. Meanwhile, true disco music never actually 'died'. Instead it quietly retreated to its underground roots, where it has thrived. Now, at clubs all around the country, we are seeing a refound, growing love for it. There are disco events popping up everywhere, and this is thanks to the organisations co-ordinating their events in the right way. ‘Aerosoul’ is one example of the many events companies who seem to really know what they’re doing when hosti...

Image
On Saturday the 9 th of December, Crack Magazine were in charge of Motion Bristol; responsible for providing one of the best line ups 2017 has seen. As soon as it was announced that Ben UFO, Moodymann, Hunee, Helena Hauff and Palms Trax were playing on the same night, at one of the best clubs in the world, it quickly became one of the most anticipated events of the year. Tickets flew, and the event sold out well in advance. The ridiculously high demand was due to the incredible variety of music on offer. Each DJ on the line-up was guaranteed to provide you different feelings with their vast and varied record collections. This leads to creating a number of different atmospheres under the same roof; spread out across a few rooms and constantly changing with each record that gets played. You really can’t get much better than this in the immersive, wonderful world of clubbing. ...
